The 2005 woes of the ARC make disheartening reading (but 2006 is looking more promising)!
29 03 2006In Higher Ed today there is a rather disheartening article about the internal politics of the Australian Research Councils woes last year under Nelson and his appointees, ” Dust-up down at the ARC“, but at least the future is looking more promising for the ARC’s credibility and power under Julie Bishop:
Ms Bishop last week told the HES she would not be appointing lay people to the quality and scrutiny committee. She also foreshadowed a much less interventionist role in the grants process than her predecessor. And she expressed strong support for the ARC and peer review. Her comments will go some way towards restoring confidence in an agency whose future was looking rocky.
