A Heterotopic Space for Audio Feedback
23 01 2006Academic Commons points to an interesting new website called A Heterotopic Space: Digital Audio Comments and Student Revisions which has been set up by Jeff Sommers and Sue Sipple advocating audio feedback for student work :
Sipple and Sommers make a decent case for the utility of audio feedback to students, especially in terms of increasing the bond between teachers and learners by giving more personal feedback. That said, I do wonder at how much time this sort of process requires in an age when many markers, especially (post)graduate students, have a very tight schedule for marking. There’s probably an interesting and more managable middle-ground and I suspect revisions aimed at a whole class rather than individuals might prove more feasible in the long term.
